Jane Lynch Hosts SNL This Week!

Funny lady du jour, Jane Lynch, is hosting Saturday Night Live this (spoiler alert)… Saturday!

Known by most as Glee’s acerbic, tracksuit-sporting cheerleading coach, Sue Sylvester, Ms. Lynch is finally getting mainstream praise for her comedic chops. But some of us have admired Jane’s improv genius and delivery for years thanks to her earlier appearances in Christopher Guest comedies like Best in Show and A Mighty Wind. More recently, she stole scenes from the bros in bromantic flicks like Role Models. And last year, Jane was seen guffawing loudly alongside Meryl Streep in Julie & Julia.

And before all of that? Jane’s big break was in a Frosted Flakes cereal commercial!

Well, we all gotta start somewhere…

There should be no doubt that Jane Lynch can rile up a humorous ruckus on SNL, but that’s only so long as the writers and cast can keep up with her. I gotta say: if these awkward promos with regular, Fred Armisen, are any indication of how Saturday’s show will go… well, my beaming smile might start to twitch and crack into a concerned, Stepford Wife-style grin:

Ehhhhh… Well, just tune in to Saturday Night Live on NBC this Saturday to see if J. Lynch gets you LOLzing! *fingers crossed* Musical guest is Bruno Mars.

Tool Academy + Babies = Dad Camp; Glee Finale!

Posted by BRADY in Dad Camp, Glee, Tool Academy

VH1’s Dad Camp had a lot going for it—drama, high expectations, babies popping out (well, maybe—unpredictable little suckers!).  Unfortunately, it seems to be little more than Tool Academy with babies.  I’m so disappointed!  I guess I want something more like 16 and Pregnant or True Life and less like The Biggest Loser, where these poor fools have to make it in their regular situations and not off in some stock VH1 fancy mansion house completely removed from reality, doing ridiculous challenges in the name of “therapy.”  I still like Dr. Jeff and, believe it or not, I still like the premise, but holy douchebags, Batman!  In the most recent episode, the baby daddies had to sell a bunch of their shizz flea market style to raise some dough for their oven buns.  Who knew it would be grounds for some crazy drahmz?  Check out this ridiculous fight—if you ignore Bri’s bulging belly, it could be taken from any episode of Tool Academy.

PANTS!! I might give it one more week.  Maybe.

Today being Tuesday, look for the season finale of Glee, the little show that can!  Tonight, New Beginnings goes head-to-head with Vocal Adrenaline at Regionals, and Quinn, who has looked about three months pregnant for the past, oh, ever, is suddenly about to pop.  Does this mean we get to see Mercedes Jones’ house, now that Quinn (as of last episode) is presumably living with the Joneses?  Meanwhile, Sue Sylvester, along with Olivia Newton-John and Josh Groban, are judging Regionals.  Sneaky, Sue, very sneaky!  This episode is called Journey, and hot damn do I hope someone sings “Separate Ways!” Can’t wait to see what happens.

Glee Returns! Also, Celebrities Don’t Do Much

Posted by BRADY in Glee, celebrity gossip

After what feels like eons, Fox superstar hit show Glee returns to the airwaves tonight at one-time-only-timeslot 9:28pm in your particular time-zone (except you Central freaks, who should look for it at 8:28pm)!  Finally, right?  When we last saw New Directions, they’d taken Sectionals by storm.  Tonight’s episode sees them gearing up for Regionals, where they’ll face Vocal Adrenaline, headed up by the so-incredibly-amazing Idina Menzel (who, by the way, is married to Taye Diggs, whom she met on the original Broadway production of Rent way back in the day!).  Also appearing is Jonathan Groff (another Broadway star, made famous in Spring Awakening with Glee’s Lea Michele) as Vocal Adrenaline’s lead singer (and Rachel Berry’s love interest!).

As a little celebrity news tie-in and Glee cast news bonus, Jane Lynch (the incredibly awesome Sue Sylvester) has confirmed her engagement to longtime partner Lara Embry!  No date has been set or plans made (or so she says), but both are very happy and very excited!  Look for Jane to sing ‘Let’s Get Physical’ on an upcoming episode of Glee, featuring a guest appearance by the one and only Olivia Newton-John!

Not too much else seems to be going on in the wonderful world of celebrity news.  Designing Women’s Dixie Carter died (goodbye, Julia Sugarbaker!).  Russell Crowe got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (and can I just say, seems like anyone can get one of those things these days).  Kate Gosselin is, for now, still on Dancing with the “Stars” (snore barf snore) and will hopefully get kicked off tonight or whenever the results show is.  Anyway, nobody of note did anything really salacious in the past few days, so we’ll just leave it at that!

Glee Tour Coming to Phoenix, LA, Chicago and NY!

Posted by ERIN in Glee

Oh, you Gleeks (Glee geeks, for those not in the know) are gonna love this bit o’ honey!  See, it’s been confirmed that the cast of Glee is going on TOUR!  Glee Live! In Concert! will include real live performances of some of the shows most popular numbers, including: “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Somebody to Love,” “Jump,” “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” and “Sweet Caroline.”

Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Mark Salling, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, Harry Shum Jr., and Dijon Talton are all expected to perform—just like on television!  They’ll be hitting the four cities mentioned above in mid to late May.  I do wonder, though, if they’ll have Autotune going during the performances…

More information on the story behind the tour can be found here.  For tickets and more information on the shows themselves, visit gleetour2010.com.  And for those of you for whom waiting until April 13th is like waiting for the Arrested Development movie (it’s taking forever, I tell you!), here’s a great little video put together by Mark Salling (Puck).  Totally touching!

April can’t come too soon!  You know what would make the live show perfect?  If Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester MC’ed, and stood off to the side making catty comments!  That would be priceless.

New Glee Teaser: Stilts, Songs and Conical Bras

Posted by ERIN in Glee

Glee returns to FOX on April 13th and shows no signs of slowing down on the dorky-but-exuberant choral performances (”Hello Goodbye” by The Beatles, “Express Yourself” by Madonna); acidic wit of Jane Lynch’s Sue Sylvester; teen dramedy; and (apparently) conical bras and cheerleaders on stilts. Boo yah!

A new preview for the next round of Glee is out - take a gander below:

Looks & sounds pretty sweet! Have you marked your calendars yet, Gleeks? April 13th! Be there and still find yourself being square.

Glee’s Jane Lynch to Guest on The Cleveland Show

The Cleveland Show: Ms. Eck and Roberta

Yay!  Kind of awesome: Glee’s Sue Sylvester, actress Jane Lynch, will be guesting on The Cleveland Show January 10th.

Lynch will voice character Ms. Eck, Roberta’s new teacher, on the Family Guy spin-off.  Michael Ausiello posted a mini interview with Lynch to commemorate the occasion:

Are you a fan of Family Guy?
JANE LYNCH:
I love
Family Guy. I am also appalled and shocked by Family Guy. And I am proud to say that several children in my family under the age of 10 get it and love it, too.

How is Ms. Eck similar to Sue Sylvester?
LYNCH:
They both lack filters and say whatever awful thing comes into their mind. In-the-head-and-out-the-mouth syndrome.

And how are they different?
LYNCH:
Ms. Eck lacks Sue’s icy Nordic aggression.

Your first reaction upon viewing yourself in ‘toon form?
LYNCH:
Ms. Eck may have the largest, most disproportionate butt in cartoon history.

Should be awesome!  Though I’ve gotta say, I’m gonna miss that icy Nordic aggression.
