Ellen DeGeneres Named Fourth American Idol Judge!

American Idol: Ellen DeGeneresWhile I was busy gushing over how awesome Ellen DeGeneres was dancing on her show earlier this week with the So You Think You Can Dance crew, the lady was out getting herself a new job!

Fox announced this morning that the Ellen DeGeneres Show host/comedienne extraordinaire would be replacing Paula Abdul as American Idol’s fourth judge.  Ellen will be joining the ranks of Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Kara DioGuardi on the show’s ninth season, set to kick off January 2010.

Here’s what Ellen had to say about her new stint:

“I’m thrilled to be the new judge on American Idol. I’ve watched since the beginning, and I’ve always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I’ll save from not having to text my vote.”

LOL!  Love her!

I think Ellen will be a fantastic addition to the show.  She’s clearly been added as the “nice one” amongst the sassy existing trio, and I think that’s a good thing.  Paula was nice and enthusiastic, but let’s face it, that babe is crazy and out of touch.  Ellen’s not only nice and enthusiastic, but funny, reasonable, and a true fan of the show and the music.  And it doesn’t hurt that she’s in touch with Top 40 radio.

Congrats, Ellen!  Can’t wait to hear some anti-Simon zingers.

So Ellen DeGeneres Thinks She Can Dance!

Have I ever told you how much I LOVE Ellen DeGeneres?

Here she is doing a big ole choreographed dance number with Season 5’s cast of So You Think You Can Dance on the season premiere of The Ellen DeGeneres Show:

The song is “Calle Ocho” by Pitbull, in case you were wondering.

You’ll recognize all your SYTYCD faves in the mix: Melissa Sandvig, Ade Obayomi, Kayla Radomski, Brandon Bryant, Jason Glover, Evan Kasprzak, Randi Strong-Evans, Kupono Aweau, Janette Manrara, and last season’s winner, Jeanine Mason!

And Ellen!  This lady’s got some moves, I must say.  Well done!

Breaking Up is Hard To Do: Lindsay on Ellen

The Ellen DeGeneres ShowOh gosh.  Lindsay Lohan will be appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today, her first appearance since her highly-publicized split with Samantha Ronson.

It hasn’t even aired yet, but already, a video clip!

As much as I love me a hot mess, I feel pretty bad for Lindsay.  She’s just about the most talked-about babe in Hollywood these days, and none of it’s nice!

Though honestly, she really should refrain from defending herself by laughing maniacally and flipping her hair.  That was creepy, right?  It’s a shame her mom loves clubbing way more than parenting (see: Living Lohan), cuz this starlet  needs some support STAT.  Seriously, lock LiLo up and teach her calculus or something.  Anything to get her mind off SamRon and vodka!

On the bright side, Ellen continues to be one of my favorite people ever.  Such a classy broad!  Never sleazy, always kind-hearted, but still not fluffy.  And how much did your heart go out to her when she mentioned her Anne Heche break-up?  Such beautiful sad eyes!  Suck it, Heche!

CLASS ACT.  Ellen, if you’re reading this, you and Portia should come over for dinner sometime.

What a jerk of a baby though.  Did it really have to start kickin’ around in there during a VERY IMPORTANT taping in front of a LIVE STUDIO AUDIENCE?!?!  Not cool, baby.  You need to chill out, you little nutjob.  And show Ellen some respect!

That kid’s gonna be the BIGGEST loser, you guys.

Hyuck hyuck.  Just kiddin’.  Congrats, Alison Sweeney!
