Mad Men Withdrawal: January Jones Plays Beer Pong

Posted by KAT in Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Mad Men, Saturday Night Live

Ho hum.  It’s Monday morning and I have nary a Mad Men episode to recap.  I’ve lost all sense of purpose in life.

To fill the void, let’s watch this clip of January Jones (that’s disgruntled housewife Betty Draper!) playing beer pong last week on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon:

Ha!  Seems as though the blond beauty is well-versed in the pong.  Howevs, to be honest, I was a bit disappointed by how not fun Jones seemed on the show.  Sure, she’s playing beer pong, but still, acting sort of dull and serious.   I believe my cohort Erin had a similar experience while watching Jones on Oprah.

Perhaps we just can’t see past the Betty Draper facade.  Or maybe Jones is just one of those babes whose terrible jokes always get laughed at by the boys because she’s hot.  No more of that, please.

The actress also hosted Saturday Night Live over the weekend, with musical guest Black Eyed Peas.  I have yet to view the episode, but will be doing so later today.  Let’s watch!  We’ll see who has the last laugh.

Taylor Swift’s Monologue Song (La La La)

The adorable Taylor Swift hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend and knocked it out of the park with “Monologue Song (La La La)”.  Check her out:

Yep, she totally touched on some scandal!  From her text breakup with Joe Jonas, to rumors of dating Twilight werewolf Taylor Lautner and (but of course!) the whole MTV VMA incident with Kanye West, it’s all in there.  LOVE HER!

Saturday Night Live’s Jenny Slate Swears In

I’m sure you’ve all seen this in one place or another today!

New Saturday Night Live cast member Jenny Slate dropped an F-bomb on this weekend’s season premiere (hosted by Megan Fox, with musical guest U2).  Here’s the clip, somewhat NSFW:

Oopsies!  I’m on live television!  I love her puffed-out I-made-a-mistake cheeks.

But don’t worry, everybody, big man in charge at SNL Lorne Michaels ain’t mad at her.  Here’s what he had to say:

“It was literally her first time on the show. There was nothing dirty, just a slip of the tongue. It was ‘frickin’, frickin’, frickin’ ‘ and then boom! The pain that Jenny is going through is, I’m sure, considerably worse than that experienced by anybody who saw it.”

Heh.  Kinda being a drama queen there, Lorne, but I’ll take it.

I’m seeing this as more of a fun viral video moment of the week than an actual big deal.  Hopefully Slate sees it the same way.  Poor girl!

MacGruber! Coming to the Big Screen, MacGruber!

Posted by KAT in Saturday Night Live

Saturday Night Live: MacGruberHmm.  I’m thinking this is probably a bad idea.  Recurring Saturday Night Live skit MacGruber - a MacGyver parody - will be hitting the big screen.

The skit features Will Forte as the original MacGyver’s son, MacGruber.  In each episode, he’s in a room with ticking bomb that’s about to go off.  He gets distracted by unimportant matters, the bomb goes off, the skit’s over.  It all takes about 45 seconds, if that.  Oh yeah, and Kristen Wiig plays his assistant.

A 90-minute movie it shan’t make!  Sorry, I talk like that sometimes.

The movie will supposedly follow MacGruber as he’s pulled out of retirement as a monk in Ecuador by a colonel who needs him to fight on behalf of his country.  They’ll be fighting against a character named Cunth, who killed MacGruber’s bride.

BORING!

Lorne Michaels, are you listening? DON’T MAKE THIS MOVIE! Saturday Night Live skit-to-movies are notoriously terrible, with the exception of Wayne’s World.

Ryan Phillippe and Val Kilmer are both in talks to appear in the feature film.  Whaeva.

Celebrity Jeopardy Returns

Did anyone catch Saturday Night Live this weekend?  No worries if not; it’s always my pleasure to let you know exactly which SNL clips are worth your time.  What a sweetheart I am, right?

This week, former cast member and all-around funnyman Will Ferrell hosted.  Hilarity ensued!  The entire show was actually pretty star-studded, as you’ll see in the below clip of one of my favorite former regular sketches.

It’s the return of Celebrity Jeopardy!  Love it or leave it:

HA!  I love love LOVE Kristen Wiig’s Kathie Lee Gifford impression, and was also especially excited to see that li’l Norm-Macdonald-as-Burt-Reynolds cameo.  Ole Norm remains one of my favorite cast members eeeever.

Anyway, that’s the best of it, this week!  It’s no Motherlover, but it surely ain’t bad.

Justin Timberlake & Andy Samberg: Motherlovers

Fans of Dick in a Box and mothers alike were likely pleased to witness the reunion of Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake on this past weekend’s Saturday Night Live.  JT hosted, with Ciara performing.

In case you missed it, take a look at “Motherlover” here:

Hilars! A perfect Mother’s Day tribute.  That was Susan Sarandon and Patricia Clarkson in the MILF roles, in case you were wondering.

I actually think I like “Motherlover” more than Dick in a Box” (though not as much as “Lazy Sunday,” doi).  I’ve got to admit, Justin Timberlake is an aaaawesome performer.

You and Me and Andy Samberg Makes 3!

When I told you earlier today that I had no clue what Michael Cera was up to AS WE SPEAK, I was lying.  Sorry, dudes!

I know what!  Ole Mike’s been starring in promos for the MTV Movie Awards!  Here’s one:

Yep, Arrested Development’s George Michael Bluth’s been skitting it up with Jack Black and Saturday Night Live cast member Andy Samberg, who’s set to host the awards show on May 31st.

Awww, man!

Forgive me if I’m speaking out of turn, but Michael Cera is a total MILF, am I right?

Who’s the Boss? Andy Samberg, I Guess.

Happy Monday, everyone!  As usual, I watch Saturday Night Live so you don’t have to.  Face it, you don’t have that kind of time.

Skinny Seth Rogen hosted this week, with French indie band Phoenix as musical guest. Look at this crazy thing Andy Samberg did:

Love it or hate it? Pick one, please.

Behar vs. Behar: SNL’s Fred Armisen On The View!

Oh BOY, I love this picture!

The View: Joy Behar and Fred Armisen

Saturday Night Live’s Fred Armisen’s gonna be on The View tomorrow, in character as View host Joy Behar.  Armisen’s been playing Behar all year in SNL’s parody of the popular female-oriented talk show.  His impression consists mostly of him wearing a red wig and huffing “So what, who cares?” left and right.  SPOT ON!

Here’s one of the most recent skits, featuring 30 Rock’s Tracy Morgan as Sherri Shepherd:

Away We Go to The Office Saturday Night, Live

Away We Go: John Krasinski & Maya RudolphWhooopdeee!  Woo! Friday!

I just came across this here precious little upcoming movie, Away We Go.  It stars The Office’s John Krasinski and Saturday Night Live’s Maya Rudolph and it’s got precious quirkfest with an indie rock soundtrack written all over it.

Manic dream girl and bookish shy guy unite!  Slap those two on a whimsical movie poster, I’m DONE!

Let’s face it people, this is exactly the sort of thing I’m a sucker for.  I don’t like myself for it or anything, but you got another thing coming if you think I’m apologizin’.  I want me some non-sequitors and I want them now!

The script is by literary supercouple Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida.  Director is Sam Mendes, who most recently did Revolutionary Road, and American Beauty a bit before that.

I like Dave and Vendela; I’m indifferent to Sam.  And I really want John and Maya to do well in life.  The transition from TV to film can be tough, TRUST ME.  JK, don’t trust me.  I have no clue.  Anyway, I wish them well.  We’ll see how that goes.

Watch the trailer and, go ahead, judge me for wanting to see it.  And please, feel free to enjoy it ironically:

It’s gonna be terrible and I’m gonna love every minute!

Oh GOD, please let there be a Catherine Keener cameo in this one!
