Dexter the Game

Hey nerds and Dexter fans!  Cool news!  The official Dexter video game is now available in the Apple app store.  Take a look at the full trailer:

The game seems to take place in Season 1, following Dexter Morgan’s hunt to find the Ice Truck Killer.  You’re in control of Dexter as he analyzes blood spatter, tracks down clues, stalks prey, whaeva.

Sounds pretty awesome!  I’m gonna have my iPhone-having friends DL it today so I can play.  I hope there’s a shake-shake-shake-shake-someone-dead option.  Not to be a creep.

Helloooo, Nurse! Watch a Sneak Peek of Nurse Jackie

Nurse Jackie: Jackie PeytonNotable new show alert!  Tonight marks the series premiere of the much buzzed-about dark comedy Nurse Jackie on Showtime, immediately following Weeds at 10:30 p.m.

However, through the magic of the Internets, the pilot episode is already available online.  If you’re a U.S. reader, watch it in full here, it actually looks quite good.

Dig this synopsis: Nurse Jackie follows Jackie Peyton, a strong-willed, dedicated nurse at the fictional All Saints Hospital in New York City.  Juggling patients and patronizing doctors whilst working 80-hour weeks with a bad back have given her a penchant for poppin’ Vicodin pills and snortin’ up lines of Adderall in the ladies’ room.  Zing!

A tough-but-fair, hard-working, pill-popping nurse, eh?  I think I’m pickin’ up what you’re puttin’ down, Showtime… Nurse Jackie’s a sinner and a saint!  S-Time eats those types up for breakfast!

In all seriousness, the channel does do an amazing job of creating lovable-but-deeply-flawed characters.  See vigilante serial killer Dexter Morgan (Dexter) and drug-dealing suburban mom Nancy Botwin (Weeds) for further reference.  So complex!

But anyway.  The series also heralds the return of Edie Falco (Carmela on The Sopranos!) to television, which I know many a-folk are extremely excited about.

Now go on and get out of here so I can watch the show.  I don’t need you peekin’ over my shoulder.

Dexter Marries His Sister!

OMFG!  OMFG!  OMFG!

So pardon all the unecessary Fs, but I pretty much just vomited in my mouth a little bit, that’s how crazy this news is to me.  I’ve got a serious case of the cringey stinkface as I write this, and that ain’t pretty.

Basically, my world has been turned upside down!  Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter, who play bro and sis Dexter and Deborah Morgan on Showtime’s Dexter have just announced that they’ve not only been quietly dating for a year and a half, but eloped on New Year’s Eve to boot!

Dexter: Michael C. Hall & Jennifer Carpenter

Ugh.  I haven’t felt this confused since I read One Hundred Years of Solitude.

But ewww, right?  As a big fan of Dexter (not to mention Hall’s other hit, Six Feet Under), I’ll never watch the show again without looking out for some friendly bro/sis canoodling.  A coquettish glint of the eye, a flirty smile, perhaps a playful hand on the small of a back…

It just ain’t right!  Have some restraint, Morgans!  You don’t see me going around flirting with MY sister, and she’s cute as a button!

I actually think the producers should’ve taken matters into their own hands and asked the pair to keep their relationship private, to keep fans like me happy.  You know, like when members of boy bands pretend they’re not gay so the girl fans can keep crushin’.

They’re all gay, girls.  They’re all gay.

Whatevs.  Hard-bodied Hall and coat-hanger-shouldered Carpenter plan on walking the red carpet together at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.  It’ll be their first time publicly acknowledging their relationship, so look out for that!

Kudos to Pink Is The New Blog for the sweet visual.

Oh my gosh, you guys.  I just came across the following news item while looking for info about Dexter (which I’ve been totes into lately) and got straight SPOOKED!

So basically, this aspiring filmmaker dude named Mark Twitchell shot a movie about a man who is lured to a garage by an Internet date and murdered, and THEN Twitchell himself lures a man to his garage with promises of an Internet date and murders him.  IN REAL LIFE!

! ! !

Apparently police are finding thematic links to the show Dexter, whose title character Twitchell idolized.  Rope and chopped-up body parts, let’s not even get into it!

OMG!  Scary!  A girl can’t even do a simple Google search for the Dexter video game in production without stumbling upon a crime scene.

THIS IS TOO MUCH!  I’M TELLING YOU, I’M STRAIGHT SPOOKED!!!  SPOOKED STRAIGHT!  SCARED STUPID!

So anyway, I’m pretty stoked that Dexter has been picked up for two more seasons.  Sweet!  I love that Michael C. Hall.  Anthony Michael Hall, too, though that’s unrelated.
