Are You Afraid of The Fades?

Paul is the least scary thing about The Fades

If you’re not, well, you should be! The Fades, BBC’s newest show and American import, is scary. Scarier than The X-Files, scarier than Carnivale (which was mostly creepy), scarier than The Twilight Zone! See, teenager Paul sees dead people–ghosts, if you will. But not like The Sixth Sense (the movie that will never die or cease to be referenced). No, Paul sees ghosts and creepy, skeletal creatures that can interact with regular people. And, by doing so, influence the ghosts to interact with regular people. Not in poltergeist-y ways, but in cannibalistic ways (if you consider that ghosts used to be people so when they eat people, it’s still sort of cannibalistic).

But! I’m getting ahead of the story. Paul is a weirdo teenager who realizes his oddness (that he sees ghosts) and just thinks he’s going nuts. Anna is his HBIC of a twin sister, who despises her weirdo brother, and Mac is his awesome nerd of a bestie. Paul and Mac go explore an abandoned mall one evening and, well, the story takes off from there. And it is SCARY.

SCARY. Check it out. Now playing on BBC America!
