30 Rock Stars’ Very Different Weeks

Well, two of 30 Rock’s big stars certainly are getting some very different types of attention this week. Sadly Tina Fey promising to keep making 30 Rock forver because it is so insanely funny was not one of them.
First up is Alec Baldwin, who may be the only star of a comedy show excited about the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal for reasons other than just getting to make “weiner” jokes for the next three years. Congressman Weiner was long rumored to be eying a run for New York City Mayor in 2013, but with his recent scandal he’s pretty much focused on keeping the job (not to mention wife) he does have, leaving a hypothetical vacuum for new candidates. One of these new candidates? Quite possible Mr. Alec Baldwin himself. Always an outspoken political guy, Alec has been teasing to reporters and on Twitter that he may throw his hat into the ring for a serious run. He’s already announced he will be leaving 30 Rock after next season (boooooooo!) so the timing would work out pretty perfectly. Plus, come on, that’s the perfect out for his character: Jack Donaghy leaves NBC to hold political office. And as much as I hate to know that Baldwin is leaving the world of acting, if it sets up the Baldwins as the next political family like the Kennedys or the Bushes I’m all for it. Stephen Baldwin for President!
Tracy Morgan has gotten some slightly less favorable and exciting coverage this week. During a stand-up show at Nashville’s Rhyman Auditorium, Tracy went on a rant about homosexuals that seemed less like a string of gay jokes and more just…a homophobic rant. Now to be fair to Tracy, I’ve seen his stand-up and I don’t remember any actual jokes, and certainly none of it was funny, so maybe he really did intend his comments as jokes and the fact that he is a terrible stand-up comedian got in the way. But his remarks went far beyond just bad jokes, letting the audience into his very dark feelings towards gays, how it’s a choice, and how he would treat his son if he came out of the closet. As you can imagine, people in the media weren’t too thrilled with this. Tracy has issued a half-hearted apology, but it should be interesting to see if any of his very liberal 30 Rock co-stars have anything to say about the incident. Maybe they’ll write him an actual apology and force him to say it on the show…

Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a few of the images aren’t loading correctly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the same outcome.
