Zach Galifianakis Hilariously Hosts SNL

You know what’s really nice? When Saturday Night Live lets an actual professional funny person host! This week The Hangover’s Zach Galifianakis stopped by to host the show for the second time in as many seasons, and you could almost hear the sigh of relief coming from the writer’s room. “Finally, a stand-up comedian who can write their own monologue! We don’t have to make some dull actor or athlete seem funny!”

Zach knocked it out of the park once again, making every sketch funnier than it has any right to be with his mere presence (not to mention that beard; it’s a primo comedy beard). He kicked it off with some of his stand-up jokes before launching into a classic Galifianakis routine for anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing him live: a full on dance interpretation of “The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow” complete with tiny red Annie dress and a large notepad full of one-liners. Oh, and falling glitter at the end, of course.

The decidedly Zach-centric opening followed with a series of sketches that allowed Zach to show off his comedic range and take on some of his favorite comedic targets (like hacky, catchphrase heavy stand-up comedians). The entire evening came to a close with Zach sporting a newly shaved mohawk during the goodbyes, claiming it was for a Mr. T sketch they ran out of time for. Of course everyone knows that show runs like clockwork and never cuts a sketch while on-air, proving just how far Zach is willing to go for a joke.

The best sketch of the evening, in my opinion, was the Digital Short, featuring Zach interviewing kids to be his new assistant. Although Zach has interacted with kids in similar filmed segments for Jimmy Kimmel, it still proved as hilarious as ever. Zach + kids = always funny. Check it out below!
