In a blogosphere chock-a-block of Justin Biebers, Kardashians, Jersey Shorers and Lady Gagas, we just want to take a step back and give a REST IN PEACE to television’s lovable patriarch, Tom Bosley. Best known as Howard “Mr. C” Cunningham in the nostalgic 1950’s comedy Happy Days, Mr. Bosley passed away yesterday from heart failure after battling lung cancer. He was 83 years old.
You may also recognize Mr. B from TV gems like Murder, She Wrote (as Sheriff Amos Tupper), Father Dowling Mysteries (as the title’s crime-solving priest), The Love Boat, and the lead voice actor on animated shows like David the Gnome and Wait Till Your Father Gets Home.
Mr. Bosley’s death occurred a few days after the passing of another one of TV’s iconic parents. Barbara Billingsley, who played the sweet and doting June Cleaver on Leave It to Beaver, passed away on Sunday.
Farewell, Tom Bosley and Barbara Billingsley. You were both talented actors who will forever be remembered as iconic, beloved parents in TV history. And because we don’t want to mope and mourn too much, let’s all turn those frowns upside down and rejoice with one of the peppiest TV theme songs of all time: Happy Days!
