Final Season of The Tudors Premieres on blinkx

King Henry VIII: two marriages fewer than Larry King, but born the same year.
The final decline of King Henry VIII, complete with a couple more wives and plenty more craziness, is kicking off right here at blinkx Remote! We’re thrilled to announce that you can now watch the first episode of the fourth and final season of The Tudors on blinkx Remote, a whole week before it premieres on Showtime on April 11th. If you haven’t been keeping up with The Tudors (not to be confused with a show on 16th century E!), it chronicles the rise to power, descent into madness, and many wives of King Henry VIII, a man who wanted to get away from his exes so much that he separated the Church of England from the Catholic Church just so he could divorce them. Talk about a complicated break-up. If you need a refresher, the whole series is free to watch right here on blinkx Remote.
What can we expect from the final season? Jonathan Rhys Meyers, a man far too attractive to play Henry (we’re talking Salma Hayek playing Frida Kahlo levels of historical beautification here), will don prosthetics and gray hair to play the aging, weight-gaining monarch, who apparently went all Elvis in his final years. Meanwhile, the beautiful Tamzin Merchant and Joely Richardson will join the cast as Henry’s last two wives: Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr. The man had a thing for Catherines. Or maybe he just liked the celebrity couple name “Cathenry.” Either way, both the relationships end up as tumultuous as his marriages past. Creator Michael Hirst, who has written every episode so far, will again write all 10 episodes before moving on to a new Camelot-based drama for Showtime.
Although we knew a show based on a historical figure could only run so long, we’ll still be sad to see The Tudors go. Here’s hoping for an addictive final season full of political and personal battles (and maybe an execution or two)! The first episode is a heck of a start!
