Michael JacksonAs Erin mentioned, we here at Square Eyes have been collectively mourning the loss of the King of Pop since news of his death broke yesterday afternoon.  I’ve been trying to come up with an appropriate tribute, and I think I’ve finally got something.

In 1991, Michael Jackson guest starred on The Simpsons, playing a big, goofy lookin’ patient named Leon Kompowski who Homer meets in a mental institution.

Leon/Michael goes on to visit the Simpson home and help Bart write a beautiful birthday song for his sister, “Happy Birthday Lisa.”  It really is a lovely song, one any sister would be get all verklempt over.

For some reason, I could only find weird choppety clips of the scene, but you’ll definitely get the picture.  Just try to hold back the tears whilst watching!

Yup.  Pretty amazing.

You can watch the episode in full here on blinkx Remote.  It’s the first episode of the third season, titled “Stark Raving Dad.”  It’s a great one!

All hail the King of Pop!
