So ends Season 8 of American Idol!  Unfortch, Idol demons have nested into my soul because I cannot get Kris Allen singing “No Boundaries” or “Vision of Love” out of my head. Get out of my brain, Kara DioGuardi music (auuuuugGGGH *swatting at head*)!

Thanks to the amazing MJS Big Blog, you can watch videos from last night’s American Idol finale:

Kara DioGuardi strips to bikini on American IdolTop 13 sing “So What” by Pink (VIDEO): I wish they let Allison Iraheta do this as a solo, but instead we got the Top 13 dancing around like d-bags and ruining the song as per ushz.

David Cook sings “Permanent” (VIDEO): Didn’t watch last season of Idol, so I fast forwarded.

Anoop Desai, Alexis Grace & Top 13 sing “I’m Yours” with Jason Mraz - (VIDEO): Kinda awkward. I’m annoyed that this is the second time this season that they’ve bastardized this song in a group number.

Kris Allen and Keith Urban sing “Kiss the Girl” (VIDEO): Kris looked like a natural strumming alongside Nicole Kidman’s husband, but I fast forwarded. Heard it was good though.

Top 13 Girls and the Black Eyed Peas perform (VIDEO): The gals all looked hawt for “Glamorous” but it was a good reminder of why Jasmine Murray and Megan Joy were kicked out so soon. Yeesch! Then Fergie Ferg shoved the ladies to the background for “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and the Black Eyed Peas pumped up the jam with “Boom Boom Pow”.

Allison Iraheta and Cyndi Lauper sing on American IdolBikini Girl and Kara DioGuardi sing-off and bikini-off (VIDEO): Hello! This was a hilarious surprise. Y’all know I detested Bikini Girl from her first whorish audition, so to see under-appreciated fourth judge Kara DioGuardi burst out from backstage and totally out-sing her with “Vision of Love” was awesome. Say what you will about Kara as a judge/songwriter, but I love that she’s the only judge to walk the walk and SING in front of contestants live (yes, I’m talking to you, auto-tuned/lip-syncing Paula Abdul). Don’t miss the 2nd surprise at the end when Kara reveals that her body isn’t so bad either. I’m back on Team Kara.

Allison Iraheta and Cyndi Lauper sing “Time after Time” (VIDEO): This was a bit odd with the sit-down, stripped-down, Cyndi-playing-a-dulcimer performance because Allison is a “get up off your chair and rawk” singer, but it was a pretty duet and I lurved the canon/”round robin” section. Way to hold your own, Alli!

Danny Gokey duets with Lionel Richie - (VIDEO): Hello, it’s not you I’m looking for, Danny. The Lionel and Danny seemed to enjoy being equally cheesy together, but I didn’t recognize the duet song and was fast forwarding before it was over.

Adam Lambert sings with KISSAdam Lambert performs with KISS - (VIDEO): So the “sweet” rock band that Adam was rumored to perform with was good ol’ (and I do mean old) KISS! Complete with face paint, pyrotechnics, guitar-smashing and Gene Simmons’ tongue. I love that Adam went all out with the guyliner, bejeweled eyes, glitter, ridonkulously high boots and some “dark angel wing” shoulder contraptions on. Work it, boy!

Carlos Santana and Top 13 perform - (VIDEO): Carlos jammed, Matt Giraud sang “Black Magic Woman”, and the gang sang “Smooth”. Eh. But loves me some Santana.

Ford Commercial - “I Will Remember You” (VIDEO): An attempt at nostalgia. Whatevs.

Megan Joy and Michael Sarver sing “Pretty Flowers” with Steve Martin (VIDEO): So apparently Steve Martin has a banjo album coming out (seriously) and wrote this folksy duet! Michael was struggling to keep up with the tempo, but it suited Megan’s warble really well.

Top 13 boys and Rod Stewart - (VIDEO): The moment I heard the boys shout-sing “IF YOU THINK I’M SEXY”, I hit fast forward. I’ve heard that Mr. Stewart went on to sing “Maggie May” forever and his voice was rough. Bullet dodged for me!

Adam Lambert and Kris Allen sing with Queen on American Idol finaleAdam Lambert and Kris Allen perform “We Are the Champions” with Queen (VIDEO): Methinks Brian May was rather enamored by Adam. Maybe we’ll see Adam Lambert in the next tour with Queen?

Kris Allen wins American Idol (VIDEO): You heard it! A smidge of a surprise, but I really didn’t believe Adam had it in the bag as much as the media and judges thought. Also, I’d rather hear Kris on the radio than Adam. Adam’s a sensational live performer, but on the airwaves? It can be a bit much. Both guys seem to genuinely support one another and I love the bromance. The loss is no skin off Adam’s back either - he’s so well-known and respected now that I’m sure a million opportunities will come his way.

You can listen to Kris’ studio recording of “No Boundaries” here. I’m telling you, it isn’t as bad as people say. Dead catchy despite stupid lyrics.

So what’s next? The Top 10 hit the American Idol Concert Tour this summer, and you can also stalk follow some of them on Twitter (@DannyGokey, @MattGiraudOfficial @AnoopDoggDesai @MichaelSarver1 @IdolScott, @Jasmine__Murray). Until next season - Erin out!
